Prescription drug abuse among teens is the number one fastest growing drug problem we have in America. THIS IS A FACT! The Partnership for a Drug-Free America reports that 1 out of 5 teens have abused prescription drugs and every day, 2,500 teenagers use a prescription drug to get high for the first time. The drugs that teens are abusing are some of the most addictive drugs on this earth.
Most of the prevention experts will tell you that the prescription pills are being diverted from your home and this is true so you had better start safe guarding your medicine. But the truth is that dealing pills has become big money in our community and they are being sold on the streets of Jonesboro just like Meth, Heroin, Crack, Cocaine and other street drugs. Drugs such as Hydrocodone, Soma and Xanax are being sold for $5 to $10 a pill while Oxycontin is sold for $40 to $80 a pill.
As long as our government and the Arkansas Medical Board does not require mandatory tracking systems, the drug dealers will continue to target Medical Providers and we intend to notify them when we learn of such activity in order to help them from being victims of this growing epidemic. Street pills are destroying families and young kids. In some cases killing people.
