On Thursday, July 29, 2010 we will have the ARKANSAS LEGISLATIVE TASKFORCE ON REDUCING POVERTY AND PROMOTING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY in Jonesboro for a Town Hall Meeting to listen to your opinions as to what our state legislature should be doing in the next session to help reduce poverty and promote economic opportunity in Northeast Arkansas. The taskforce will compile data on all of the ideas they have received from 5 meetings around the state and present the report to our legislators and the Governor before the next legislative session.
It is our time as a community to speak up about the out dated state policies that fail to promote real drug addiction prevention; deny treatment for a recognized medical problem and that fail to support our local law enforcement in combating the people dealing highly addictive drugs for monetary profit. These are the policies that lead to loss of economic productivity, denial of economic opportunity and increased poverty in our communities.
We need your presence at this meeting to let the taskforce know that we are serious in Northeast Arkansas about making positive changes in our communities. Here is the Press Release.
